On our farm, we raise animals for meat, but Jim and Sherrie were both raised on apple orchards, and our neighbors harvest maple sap, so this combines a lot of our favorites into one delicious combination. Not into meatloaf? This homegrown recipe will change your mind.
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup oatmeal
- 2/3 cup skim milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup finely-chopped onion
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon mustard powder
- To taste: freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, red pepper flakes
Mix all ingredients together and pat into a loaf shape and place into a grilling loaf pan. Add 1/4 cup maple hickory BBQ sauce on top. Grill with apple wood smoking chips using indirect heat at 300°F to 170°F internal temperature.
